How horrific! I am sure though, if as it says the waiters hand was on fire it was a reflex action that caused his hand to squirt the liquid everywhere.

It is the sort of thing that could happen anywhere I would have thought if the flame licks back to the bottle. No flambe dishes for me from now on...

It would have been a nice gesture in the circumstances for the restaurant to pay the hospital fees.

What a horrific story. It just goes to show that these sorts of places can get away with this sort of thing for years then all of a sudden it goes horribly wrong.
I cant understand how the family did not have holiday insurance?

Very remiss not to have travel insurance especially when travelling with a baby

Even more horrific are the comments (if true) after the article!

I am horrified to read this posted under the article... I am 100% sure I can safely say this would never happen here. An ambulance would be called immediately and it would not be considered a laughing matter by staff or owners.

"They was treated awfully by La Luna and when me and my 2 friends walked past and they asked us to come in for a meal we clearly said no as our friends have been burnt, they laughed and the other times we walked past they started saying "fire show fire show" at us."

What a terrible thing to of happened, after reading this story in our local paper we realised that Tony was the guy who built our fireplace last year. Have heard through the "Clitheroe grapevine" that the family are on the mend, and please please make sure you have insurance its madness not to.

Best just to avoid Marmaris altogether.
