My son installed Windows 10 for me last week, it took about an hour to install but I love it, I never got on with Windows 8, I also love the talking bit, though you do feel a bit stupid talking to the lap top!!

Its when you walk away, feeling that you've had a meaningful and fulfilling conversation with it, you really should start to worry.

My deep and meaningful conversations with my lap top are probably better value for money than a therapist!!

I like windows 10, it is missing the "Run" button at the start button, I did find it, did what I needed but since I have forgot where it is again, memory slip.

As for talking to the computer, well, it must be better than Highlander talking to a coffee machine   ;)

Downloaded windows 10, it took the best part of four hours but already it seems much easier to navigate than the 8.1 that was pre installed on the laptop. Also set up the VPN, Virus protection and now I'm just in the process of installing various utilities that come with the computer, with a bit of luck, Chris can watch Corrie later.

Only the OS gets updated - all your files and software will be exactly where they were.

Loz -  Like you, I struggled to find "run" but if you type "run" into the "search the web and windows" box then it appears at the top of the presented list.  You can do this for anything that is difficult to find

So far, I'm liking W10   :)
