Got mine from next to Meri bar he phones a mate who comes and sets it up in your home and shows you how to use it.Its live TV but if you want free on demand movies just search in the App Store on your stick for the likes of Fawesome,Freemovies +,click on download then ready to play

Does a VPN just work all the time in the background or do you have to "switch it on" before you go into your tv package?

It should stay on all the time, but from experience mine does occasionally log out, for reasons only known to itself   :)
