Insurance premium renewal
« on: October 05, 2022, 12:49:03 PM »
Today went into my insurance broker which I have used for almost 20yrs. Needed more than a double brandy on my way out.
Never had a claim and yet my total home premium has gone from 1036tl to 2745tl.
Plus Government Dask at 255tl from 214tl in line with what I expected.
Any suggestions for a established local agent.

Good morning, Dave.
I had a similar experience last week when my insurance quote was 3196TL, up from 1316TL last year.

HOWEVER, as the value of the house has also risen to cover the recent home price increases, I calculated the cost per thousand and it came to a reasonable 13% increase like-for-like over last year. In fact, I thought the valuation was a bit low so even upped it to a more appropriate level at a cost of 5,533TL.

So, my suggestion is to compare the "cost per thousand" to insure and then multiply it to the revised valuation...there's no way I'd be able to come close to replacing my house for the insurance cost that was originally quoted, so I bit the bullet. Don't under-insure your home!

Sorry, Dave...realised I didn't answer your question! I use Burcu Topcu at FSM Sigorta in Fethiye if you're looking for competitive quotes. My policy is with Groupama and also includes 150k contents and 50k electronics. You can reach Burcu on WhatsApp at +90 505 572 4698. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply Dale and your experience on re-insuring your property. I feel a now little more confident in re-insuring.

Hi Dale, Yes bit the bullet and re-insured with my agent. It would seem that all insurances are going sky high and not just home cover. Thanks again,

Same here. Just renewed mine and its gone up considerably but as noted by Hornedfrog the insured value has increased and the cost per thousand is not that much more.
