Best Airport Check In
« on: March 21, 2017, 23:54:33 PM »
This idea came from another topic - which UK airport/airline gave you the best check in experience?

For us, the worst airport on the planet - Manchester (and the worst terminal, terminal 1) gave the best check in - the new(ish) separate Jet2 check in is sensationally good - no queues, fast, friendly - brilliant.

Ok your turn :D

Southend. Flying to Jersey on a Saturday morning. Our flight was the only departure from there that morning and the airport was empty apart from those on our flight. Thought we were dreaming!

They can all be bad at any given time but if I was to choose then Manchester or East Midlands.

East Midlands is a breeze but our experiences at Manchester T1 have always been good.  I have to say though, departures is easier than arrivals.  You have to walk forever from the plane to passport control at arrivals  >:(

Only went to east Midlands once, it was so easy and desserted! Never had a problem at Manchester, just always busy. Have to say the easyjet moving out scenario went like clockwork and they were the most friendly and helpful bunch of people.

The old Dalaman domestic.  Simplicity of design at its best - one door in, one security check and one door out.  Oh and the prices in the one cafe (airside) were a third of those in international  :)

Little old Exeter.

Several machines, boarding pass scanned, baggage tag pops out, affix tag to suitcase, put on conveyor belt and all done.

No queues and security very fast.

Somewhat expensive to fly from, limited destinations, so I tend to use Bristol.

Very good at Leeds Bradford when I flew to Spain last year

Worst by miles, and not just UK but everywhere Ive been to is Manchester

Over 2 hours waiting in a queue for hand luggage inspection on Christmas day this year, 2 out of 6 machines working  one person fainted and one was sick whilst stood in line waiting. on asking the staff what had happened they said simply lots of staff had not turned in. Complete farce, treated like cattle rather than customers.

that was the worst Ive ever had,  however Manchester always had long waits, in fact it doesn't matter what time you arrive as if your flight is leaving in the next 10 minutes you always have to hold your hand up in the line so you can be brought to the front of the queue,  so you might just as well not even get in the line until 20 mins before the flight is due to depart.

Agree with sale,  Southend airport an absolute dream to use.  Luggage checked in, one polite man waiting to check your passport, then 2 security people getting you through really quickly, before we knew it we were at in the departure lounge, could not believe what a dream it was.  Also only 6 departure gates and only about 6 flights going out between 6.30 am and 3.30 PM.   Will try to use it again in the future.
