Owners of dogs found wandering in the streets would be fined 175TL per animal... and there is more

What about the street dogs? People who own, care and choose to have dogs usually act responsibly and don't let their dogs wander freely.

If a person feeds a street dog, will they be looked on as the owner, and therefore fined??

I'm afraid that isn't necessarily true Ray. I regularly see well looked after dogs with collars out on the streets...

Anyway, just passing the message on. I guess when people start getting fined the truth will out  ;)

The biggest problem we have on the streets is private dogs, the street dogs have been neutered tagged and had their injections, if a private dog is now caught on the street it will be taken to the Animal Shelter and neutered then if the owner wants his dog back he will pay the fine, feeding them isn't the problem Linda unwanted puppies are the problem.

Well Ray - the owners that look after their dogs will have nothing to worry about
Next problem to address is to tackle the multitude of stray cats!
So far - Well done the legislation

I wholeheartedly agree about the cats. They are becoming a huge problem.
Re the street dogs. I sometimes feel afraid when I'm walking home and sometimes come across a 'pack' of street dogs.  Feeding isn't a problem as most people put any waste food out for the "animals", unfortunately this encourages the cats.  I like animals although I wouldn't have one myself but if you aspire to have an animal you should look after it and be responsible.

Such a pity the dog catcher wasnt behind Bim near A101 yesterday as three dogs where having a set to over a bitch, obviously in season. Two of the dogs were quite big & had collars.

unfortunately this typical scene is apparant all to often in our area and certainly leaves a bad taste with our visitors (and residents)
Lets hope that the latest legislation stops such incidents and holds the responsible owners to task

{A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}46068

Now is the chance for everyone to get involved and do something about it.
You also have a very good Animal Shelter you can take strays to.
