Ours are 7 years old One needed replacing completely last year because it got fried in a storm that blew the electronics to bits.
The replacement is much quieter and more efficient inverter type. More expensive but cheaper to run.

An inverter controls the speed of the outdoor compressor unit to operate at a variable optimum speed which saves energy compared to an 'on/off' type of basic unit which switches on at full speed each time it is required.
They are more economical to run and less prone to failure (hopefully).

We had one catch fire this year (outside unit) lucky it got put out very quickly but caused some smoke damage. Ours are ten year old Samsung units, worth getting them checked out if they are not running correctly.

Ours were 7 years old and the maker was no longer in business and we always had trouble getting them fixed. Decided to renew and glad we did, what a difference the new ones make.

We had a little waterfall pouring from one of ours the other day. Beko service came out (all 5 of them because it was a quiet day) turned out the water run off pipe was blocked.

Ten minutes later it was cleared. Cost us 20TL - it would have cost us more to find a long ladder to sort out the problem ourselves. One of the guys spoke really good English which was helpful.

We had a problem a few years ago with water coming out of the air con units.  We found out that if they air con is not used for a while, insects crawl up the outside pipe and lay eggs, so blocking the system.  After calling out someone to sort it for us, the guy told us to get a long cleaner, which looks a bit like a bottle cleaner and then just put it up the pipe to clean it out.   It always worked, if fact, we have lent this out to our neighbours who then went out to the Yapi Market and bought their own cleaner.   So if you have water coming out of the air con, give this a try.
