When my youngest daughter first moved down to London several years ago she lived in Isleworth, just under the flightpath for planes approaching Heathrow. I will never forget the first time we stayed with them and were woken by the first plane coming in that morning
(and every 90 seconds after that) It really was very close! It was not for people of a nervous disposition!! They certainly didn't have any kind of secondary glazing as SuzzPuss describes, but were assured that you do get used to it. :
