After visiting Calis for over 16 years of brilliant holidays we visited the Mehtap Lokantasi for our first meal ever here.
We were amazed at the range of authentic Turkish meals on offer at very good cheaper prices compared with those on the prom who mostly had tourist type meals with a dollop of rice and a few chips
our meals of proper Turkish food of vast amounts on the various dishes we had was mouthwatering different from anything we had tried any where in Calis..we will go back next year and take our friends as well..
The staff were excellent and meals cooked to order with show cooking on view
The Lokantasi is across the road by the traffic lights opposite the taxi rank at the end of the main street try it one day and enjoy

Went to Mehtap for the first time this year. The first visit was very good and would have recommended it but the second visit was very poor.
-
Often used Mehtap years ago when it was just a hut with an outside oven.Food as always good but for some reason never been for years, will have to give it another try.

Tried it didn't like it, food was not good, wouldn't go back im afraid.

Had a few good meals there ,but the last one was very poor 😕

This is the worst meal we have had in Calis and expensive definitely would not go back

I have to say that this once lovely eaterie has fallen by the wayside. We ate their twice this month and were very disappointed. The reason we went back for a second time was because we just felt that the first meal which didn’t come up to their usual standard was just a one off. Sadly it wasn’t, the food was not nice.

We've been tempted to try it many times over the years - won't bother now. :-\

OUR post was of our opinion of our meals in October this year when it was quite full with 75% of Turkish clients and a few tourists 8) every one to their own taste .
ALSO very interesting to see the post from AVAGUESS who has only posted 4 posts on any thread since January 2017 the last one being in October 2017 did that person honestly go there ??????????

People with few posts over a long membership are allowed opinions too :)
I have occasionally thought we must try this place.
I doubt I'll be thinking that any time soon

We’ve always said we would go in the Mehta lokantasi but never managed to go, went in there last week and had a lovely meal, will definitely go back.

We’ve eaten there many times and had some lovely Turkish food, at very reasonable prices.

When we went to the Mehtap the first time there were only five tables occupied all with holiday makers. We both had lentil and tomato soup and the bowls were filled to the brim. Cant remember the main course but it was really good, the service was good and the waiter very friendly. As my wife likes fish the waiter said that they did the best barbecued sea bass in Calis. We went back two weeks later for the said fish and were very disappointed. The soup bowls this time were only half full and although the fish was not off, it was not fresh and did not fall off the bones. As most of the diners were Turkish we did not see or hear much from the waiter. From the time we got there till the time we left it was more than an hour more than the first visit. It is a shame because we felt we would make this a regular stop. Don't think we will go back.

We were in Calis in late September/early October this year, and we had two evening meals at this restaurant. On both occasions we chose from the Turkish menu and were very pleased with the quality, the service and the price. Within half an hour of arriving, the outside tables were filled with a mixture of tourists and locals.
We thoroughly enjoyed both evenings and I would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.
Incidentally Blueclad, did I see you in the Oykun at breakfast during the last week in September? I thought I recognised you from your Avatar on CBF but I wasn't sure. Our party of three people were sitting near a window very close to the television.
Best wishes. :)

Paid a revisit to Mehtap last night.Last year we had one good visit and one bad but we decided to try again, wish we had'ntThe waiter came out with the puffy bread which was well over done,it was black in lots of places and when I put my knife in to release the steam the bread the bread splintered into what was like a hundred pieces. We both had soup which was lovely but Mrs B had finished hers and I still had a quarter left the waiter came and lifted her plate and put down her main meal.My Iskender was O.K. but my wifes lamb chops were not. Out of four chops only one and a half were edible because of fat and gristle. Not once were we asked how our meal was but Turkish diners were treated like lords. Well we gave them a second chance but never again. First bad meal this holiday.
