We left the UK in May 2007 to live in Uzumlu. Once you get used to all the beurochracy, Yabanci prices and time scales to do things in Turkey we are pleased we left the UK.
It all depends on your outlook and why you are doing it but we are glad we made the jump.

Yes that applies to us too.  We miss things like a good cheddar and I miss croissants.  But then, that means people can treat us when they come to visit.  In the meantime we are eating and experiencing all the things we used to miss when we were only here for holidays.  Swings and roundabouts.  -You know what I mean.

Definitely I miss my sons, but they have somewhere lovely to come for holidays.  We chat on the internet and can use webcam.  They are spread about England and we never saw much of the eldest anyway.  I confess I was hoping flights would be cheap for them and they don't seem to be.  Which is a pain.

Best move we ever made....not a single regret. Our standard of living is much higher than it would have been in the UK.  If you are certain really certain it is what you want then go for it!

I think it all depends upon your circumstances. I you have some funds behind you, and won't need to work, then there is nothing to stop you enjoying life to the full here.

The difficulties arise if you are going to need to earn money here as it is very hard. Please also consider the lifestyle change for any children you may bring with you.

It's something that requires a lot of consideration.
