Hello all, Its been a while since we've had the time to enjoy chatting on the forum. We've sold our house in Bromsgrove, handed my notice in at work and finish on Fri 25 Aug. One way tickets are sorted for flying to Dalaman on Mon 28 Aug. I assume it will be a while before we have internet access, so we'll say goodbye for now. Thanks to everyone who have made our time on the forum worthwhile and enjoyable. Just looking forward to relaxing by the pool for a month or two (without having to chase solicitors, direct debits, pension forecasts, car insurance, DVLA, etc.)Hope to meet up with you in September.

Good Luck.  I'd move now, but what would we live on?  Could sell the house, around 450,000 but that'd have to last a long time so we'll have to postpone for a couple of years.  Perhaps we'll rethink when our youngest goes to uni.next September, (A level results permitting!)

Elsa: 450,000 at just 10% interest would give you 45,000 per annum (and keep 450,000 as security) Good luck with your youngest's results next year.

Can you tell me when you apply for residence do you have to have any stipluated amount of cash in the bank to qualify?, I seem to remember reading somewhere on the CBF it was a minimum of £1000??, we have all our tax numbers/bank accounts set up etc and would love to move over certainly within the next 18 months, Stu is waiting for our 2 old cats to kick the bucket as we would only then have to bring our baby one, he says it will be cheaper!!!!.......only joking

Hiya

I did my residency this year and i certainly didnt have anything near £1000 in my account and to tell you the truth they werent remotely interested! Just they wanted to see I had a turkish account and I got my residency no problem so dont worry about that bit!!
