Hi Everyone. This is Carol from Bostans Restaurant and Hotel(formerly on Calis Beach Seafront)announcing the fact that we have (finally) moved location.
My husband, Recep, and I have now rented the large hotel that was previously let to English and More opposite Alo24 on the Sunday market road.
We are open for teas and coffees at the moment, and hopefully snacks within a couple of weeks. We will be fully up and running in March. The whole place is undergoing a major refurbishment so you'll have to bear with us for a while, but everyone is more than welcome to join us for a cuppa and sit in the lovely grounds, or simply have a nose around the place as we tackle it! All suggestions gratefully received.
Thank you also to all those who have already visited us, and all offers of help. Much appreciated.
-
Good luck to you Carol (and Recep) with your new venture - will the new hotel have the same name as the seafront one?
-
I guess the clue might be in the topic title :-\
-
carol best wishes for the new season
-
What was the large hotel formerly called please.[?]
-
It's just a guess but it could be the building that was previously let to English & More, opposite Alo24.
-
Having re-read my post perhaps it wasn't a bad question. However, just so there is no doubt, yes, we will still be called Bostans. Considering that is our surname we were most certainly not going to leave it behind! :D
Two years ago it was named the Akkent Hotel.
-
Ah "The Previously Let to English & More, Opposite Alo24 Hotel".
Many thanks ;)

I won't be contributing to this thread further :-\.
I am off back to my village, apparently they are missing me ;)
Best of luck with the new venture bagpus. :)

Scunner and Highlander, formerly known as Morecombe and Wizzen
-
Good luck Carol & Recep.
Thanks for the guided tour last week, once the improvements are done (just watch out for Recep & a hammer, he's lethal!) I think it will be a fab place, amazing pool & garden area for relaxation & I like the fact you will have disabled access & accessible rooms, this is something I don't see much of in Calis. Also of interest was the 2 bedroom "apartments" (actually adjoining rooms with kitchenette & 2 bathrooms), I think they will prove popular for families.
Please hurry up & get the games room finished, we have a home match next Monday!
-
where exactly is it Carol, beside cafe inn, the only hotel i can think of there is the park.
-
It's left at the crossroads for you Jim rather than right ;)
-
Just keep walking toward Fethiye and you will come to a small crossroads after that a parade of shops including a Sultans Patisserie The hotel is at the end of the parade of shops. On the way you also pass two supermarkets Cevikolu (sorry know that's spelt wrong) and Bim so could do your shopping after having coffee with Carol.Lovely place Lovely people and I hope they do really well there.Had a good look round last week and the bedrooms of the Hotel are a really good size and the plans for refurbishing are beautiful.
-
All the best to you both hope it works out well for you, lovely place even better when finished ,its a about time there was a hotel for disabled people ,and when the walk way behind is done it will be a great place to sit see you soon .
Lance & Irina
-
I know where i am now, left at the crossroads keith heading towards the courts.
-
Exactly Jim - down on the right as you walk towards the court building.
-
Where is exactly? Lol
-
Exactly is left at the crossroads and down there a bit ;)
-
Exactly is very near, round about there.
-
good luck carol and recep i will bring zuhtu the pug to come see you soon xx
-
Exactly, left at de traffic lights, right at de pub.
-
Good luck Carol and Recep. And yes, please don't let Recep loose with any Tools, he is lethal .
Remember to tell Recep to move the bar so it's easily seen from the Road, he knows what I mean...
See you both soon back over "Permanently" on the 15th Feb, and off course with "Poppy"
All the best.
-
Just helped Carol finish painting the new bar area and yes it can be seen easily from the road!It will be situated to your imediate left when you walk inside.Looking forward to seeing you both on the 15th,tell Gordon to bring his tools with him, there will still be lots for him to do.Lol!

-
That looks really nice - I remember the building and don't recall thinking it was 'nice'
-
It wasn't.. That's why :D
It was very dark n dingey before.. looks loads better now!
Very close to us, so we will be 'regulars' now :)
Good luck to you both.. and see you soon.
-
Hi
Went passed today looks really good place and in a fabulous location. Heard a lot about bostons can not wait to try it.
-
To be honest we passed it today and did not GET the location or appeal.
No disrespect to the owners intended:(
They obviously know what they're doing...best wishes to them.
-
The place is nice, the gardens are lovely. But location isnt great I agree! I just moved from across the road from there too It Would have been a good place to nip into for my Fish Chip and Mushy peas fix, will have to drive there now,
Good Luck to Carol and Recep I hope it does well
-
I suppose it depends on what you are looking for - I can only just picture the place in my memory but plenty of hotels in Calis that have been exceptionally popular didn't have the best locations in town. For example the Ernur of 2003/4/5 was always full and busy. Another one is the Almina, Ali Bozkurt's hotel down a side street up near the Gunlukbasi road - whenever I was there it was normally busier in the bar than most seafront hotels.
In fact, Calis is full of hotels tucked away here there and everywhere and I've probably been to them all - and one thing you find is they all seem full of people who wouldn't stay anywhere else, and have stayed there every year from the last 6 or whatever. So maybe location isn't the be all in Calis that it is in other places :)
-
My moto is simply , if the Foods Good, the Hospitality inviting, then that's what brings in the punters, therefore Recep and Carol tick these boxes.
-
Strange motto to have that ;)
-
As it it near to the law courts and the hospital they could pick up some trade from there.....I hope they do really well. Carol is a lovely woman and always does her best to help our charity....
-
I'm not sure trade from the law courts is ideal ;)
-
they could change the name to The Writs
-
Good Luck to you both. As you do a great Sunday Roast you may pick up some Sunday Market regulars!
-
Akarca area is a very up and coming area, lots of new places opening up. It will be a lovely addition to the area and its between Calis and Fethiye so great for both. There a few retaurants in the area now but none like Bostons and there are only a couple of apart hotels, So I think the restaurant and hotel will both do well. I drfiniltly can see the potential there. Good Luck
-
Will defo pop in - over in May - been to Bostons when it was located on seafront. At last....so pleased to see new places opening in the Akarca Mah area...good for us as that is where our place is situated ....just have to pop down the road now!!
Quite a lot of building going on in this area and we need a couple of good restaurants and bars. Good luck to you both!!
-
Has another business moved into the location previously occupied by Bostans.
-
No sign of anything happening yet H
-
Apparently the 'old Bostans' has been taken over by some Italians and consequently it is going to be an Italian restaurant. No sign of any life there yet tho Highlander.
-
Another Italian is exactly what the seafront needs :-\
-
Well, I don' know, if there are actual Italians running this a "proper" Italian would be very welcome. ;)

I believe the Almina is no longer there? Last I heard Ali was letting it out as an orphanage and cementing in the pool!?
The apartments were staying however.
-
I have recently returned from a short trip to Calis & whilst there visited the new Bostans & can confirm that the refurbishment is coming along very well. Recep took time out from the busy preparations to give my daughter, her husband & myself a guided door of the whole building. It seems to me that when completed it will be a wonderful place to stay. The new fixture & fittings are a cut above the normal standard you would expect and this combined with larger than average rooms will surely mean that the new venture will be a great success. Carol & Recep are a lovely couple and deserve good fortune.
-
I am predicting a great year ahead for the new Bostans 8)
it really is taking the shape of a great venue for many events, great space downstairs for parties and entertainment plus very large garden and swimming pool.
The hotel rooms have all also been refurbished to a high standard for anyone looking for accomodation :)
The place to be this coming season me thinks:D 8) ;)
-
I totally agree Andy. Cannot wait for them to open. :) 8)
-
Does anyone know how to go about getting info on rates, availability, booking etc.
-
Sounds a good place. Anybody know when it is going to open.
-
very very soon
-
I'm popping down tomorrow i will see if i can get some rates for you
-
Thanks lance - that would be very kind :)
-
Would appreciate if someone can ask when it opens too.
-
Hi they should open in about 2 weeks if all goes to plan
i have all the prices and dates if you want to email me ,i have asked keith to put them on cbf .
Lance
-
Thank you Lance. I am delighted to be able to add the Bostan's price list as supplied to me by Lance. It's the tiny square thing below.
-
Keith its come out big enough but the writings a bit fuzzy if any cant read email me your address and i will send it
-
Thank you Lance for that, much appreciated. I can also email anyone if they contact me too. With regards to opening... we hope within the next ten days. It has been an 'interesting' few weeks with an assortment of obstacles and hair pulling out as you might expect, but the end is now in sight. We are really just waiting for the bar to be delivered (now 3 weeks overdue) and the kitchen appliances to be connected (it helps!) Loved seeing everyone who has dropped in and kept us going.I would really like to thank you all for your support and kind words of encouragement.
-
will we still see Traditional dancers as we have seen for the last few years? It was always a treat to see Turkish dances.
-
Definately but probably just once every two weeks in the Summer months, and make it a totally Turkish evening also with Turkish live music and traditional Turkish food. We hope to build some Turkish kösks in the garden too and have some hubble bubble pipes on the go.
-
Much appreciated for finding out when they open. Reading all about the entertainment, sounds exciting.
-
Just enjoyed Sunday roast dinner , superb , couldnt eat any more ,Roast beef , roast potatoes and veg , could not fault it

Crikey thats a blast from the past ! When we first ever started visiting the area the Akkent Hotel was supposedly the best in the area receiving the Thompson Gold Award year on year, much to the chagrin of the Mutlu Hotel ! Trouble was it always seemed so far out and wasnt visible from the road of course that was before the hospital or surrounding area was even built- it was fields/swamps round there! There are photos on google images ! Hope the new owners achieve the success it once enjoyed!
-
A different "blast from the past" here - I had forgotten all about the Akkent and once I saw the name I remembered - it was the hotel seriously over-hyped by Gary Carr back in the Degalyian days. It did seem quite nice but he made it sound so good you couldn't believe it and I am sure in his huge desire to get them customers his drooling put quite a few people off. He had me convinced though - who would have thought it, the best chef in Turkey AND Turkey's greatest cocktail barman - in the same Calis hotel!
-
I have finally tackled uploading a few photos and at last we actually have a restaurant to photo! No indoor bar pictures as it hasn't arrived yet (though amazingly has been 'en-route' for 5 weeks now..... say no more). Thankfully though we have an outside bar which is now stocked and up and running. We will be running on a 75% menu as from this Monday. Will post this weekend about weekly events etc. Thank you to everyone.

That looks absolutely stunning - well done you guys.
-
Thank you. Much sweat, blood (literally) and tears but cannot take all the credit as the original building was beautiful and a great base to start with. Just hope that one day can post a picture of the indoor bar.:( Will have to have a big christening party for it when it eventually arrives. Still madly renovating but hope the end of April will be the end of it. Not to be recommended for the faint hearted. Know a few others going through the same getting ready for the season so all the best to them too.
-
WOw, that looks great, defo on the list and only a 5 min walk from the house.
-
Well done! Spent Sunday lunch there, very relaxing and comfy - the amazing artwork is Carols own, the hotel is looking very good and I am sure once finished will do very well.
-
Great photos. Looks fantastic. Another on our list for May! :)
-
quite surprised nobody has been on from the pool and darts league to thank u for the tremendous effort to host the pool and darts league finals.last minute adjustments but all in all a great night. great buffet and a big thanks for ur efforts. will certainly be making bostans one of my stops this year. well done

Wow...looks really good judging by the photos...loving the painted tiles on the walls! Hope you have a great season :)
-
Looks fabulous Hope it is a great success
-
I must say that all looks rather splendid good luck to you all in your new venture :)
-
Bostans was always one of my favourite places on the sea front (specially first thing in the morning for a quiet orange juice, and a coffee or two!) Can't wait to visit the new place - and it's very close to our apartment, so I'm sure we'll be regular visitors. It looks beautiful; well done to you all! :)
-
Wow! New Bostans looks lovely from the photos Carol cant wait to come and find you when we are over next in July. Every best wishes to you and Recep!
Lisa & Paul
x
PS. Everyone who has seen our lovely sunset anniversary painting has commented on how talented you are! and we still love it!
See you soon!
-
You wait til you see the outside, very large garden and swimming pool 8)
-
posted earlier. on behalf of pjs bar we would like to thank u for the tremendous effort to make monday an exceptional evening. best of luck for the future and wish u well.
-
The people who run the pool and darts leaugue are not members of the forum. They give all the information to a man who has been in England because of illness in his family. They thanked Recep and Carol personallyon the night but on behalf of them I will say that it was a brilliant night and Carol did indeed put in a fabulous spread. She has always been a big supporter of ours and that is why Bostans New place was chosen as soon as it was up and running. The 3 C's will certainley be using their place again in the future and we wish them all the luck in the world with this new venture.
-
It looks lovely, can't wait to try it out in May
-
thanks for the info mercury
-
just heard from a committee member that there will be an article re monday night in the next edition of land of lights. my sincere apologies
-
Absolutely no need for an apology Jack. Take care/
-
Jack13 apologies accepted. if you take a look at the following topic you will see a report on the darts and pool night and a few pictures.
{A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}46169
As the league is ran by the Calis Children's Charity it would be inappropriate to print a report of the event in a section of the forum titled "Calis Bar and Restaurant Questions and Discussions".
It has been posted in the correct place under the section for Calis Childrens Charity and there is a big public thanks not only to Carole and Recip who did an amazing job on the night but also to Cenk and Olga of Interturk who have kindly sponsored the event for the last 3 years.
-
It was a great night, thank you.
Just letting everyone know that we are now fully open for drinks. Sunday lunches are now on the go from 12:30pm and the restaurant will be on 75% menu as from Monday. We will be having our usual Thursday night quiz as from this coming Thursday (29th) but the time has changed to 7:30pm, and hour earlier than usual. Anyone wanting any more information on those can email me (bagpus).
Just adding on a couple of the bedrooms we have now finished. This is one of our loft rooms on the top floor.

Help Please I am trying to find the location of the new Bostans.I am unfamilliar with the names of the areas and what the names of ex hotels were but do know where the Sunday market is. I have looked every place I can to find the Court house without success has anyone got the street name it is located on or a Google earth grid ref as the pictures on page 10 indicate that its near the sea? (balcony shot). Also can anyone tell me the planned nights for quiz, Turkish nights and BBQ I am over in 6 weeks and it would be great to meet old friends. Thanks in anticipation. Crookes875
-
the court house in next to the Main Hospital, as you come from Calis towards Fethiye you go passed the hospital then the courthouse and come to a roundabout, turn left there and Bostans is after the first junction on the left.
-
This seems to be causing a little confusion so I have decided to sort it all out :)
New Bostans Location
