The 500ml bottle of Efes I can get in a local pub is £2.69...........one of the Turkish guys in my local fish & chip shop tells me he gets the same in Lewisham for £2.09.............not sure I want to travel all the way there to save 60p though.

Same as going from Fethiye to Icmeler  ;)  ;)

Paradise Restaurant and Bar, next to the Kultur Centre and Card Shop in Fethiye, keep their beer glasses in the freezer - they are always coated in ice!!

So do we in the villa.  It is lovely actually.

We keep glasses in the freezer too, for wine and beers! Sooo refreshing.

I like white wine as cold as possible, I'll even give it a bit of time in the freezer just before serving. However I read that people who do this are buffoons, as it is too cold and the wine will be spoilt. Does anyone know if that is true?

Actually I've been told with some red wines it's worth opening them and then putting them in the fridge for an hour before drinking.

My mate from Melbourne told me it enhances the flavour of the very high end wines.

Stoop, the classical view is that red wine should be served at room temperature. However, this "room" would be a dining room in a French chateau with 0.5 metre thick walls keeping the place cool. It would not be the back room of a Turkish restaurant in summer nor even my kitchen in the UK during the recent heatwave. Therefore I ask for red wine to be put in an ice bucket in Turkey and at home bang it in the fridge for half an hour in exceptional UK conditions.

Well to be honest white wine doesn't last us that long! But a few places we go to now automatically pop our bottle into the freezer between glasses! We always have the second one in there too!

Guess we are buffoons too as we like white wine really cold and tend to chill red for a short time -  think it enhances the flavour.
