Sorry if I didn't make myself clear Sue. I transferred money using my internet banking facility with Garanti to my Nationwide bank account in the UK.

I used Garanti, NB there is a daily limit 30000 try and a fee of 40 try for each transaction. The receiving bank was Halifax. You need to be careful with the codes for the receiving bank especially if they trade with one name, Halifax, but are owned by another RBS. All got to my UK account safely.

Does anyone know what happens when the cash hits the UK ?
Say you bought a property on an English mortgage paid for with cash from UK earnings, then sell it with no profit made and want transfer the money back in one go,does the tax man pounce?
My argument would be that tax has already been paid on the cash at source is PAYE and there has been no capital gain but that appears to be a bit simplistic to me.
Anyone got any experience of this ?

You are correct. The taxman can be shown the money leaving the UK and now returning. Same money, tax paid. You can't get taxed on money each time it moves. Capital gains will be of interest but I know a lot of people who brought money home without issue.

If you have any further problems PM me your bank details, password, PIN, your date of birth, mother's maiden name, name of your first pet, and any other relevant information and I can make sure that the transfer of the money is of no further worry to you.
