I think the bit about being able to work would naturally be overturned but the rest could happen as a welcome boost to the construction sector - especially if RTE gets his demands from the EU enhanced even further.

Nothing surprises out here..........fingers crossed   ;)

Yes, but only in the same way that someone from Turkey living in the UK and holding a UK passport would still be regarded as a foreigner by many people.

As a Turkish citizen you have the same rights and obligations as others, but it would seem that an exception is being proposed in respect of National Service. There may be something to consider regarding offspring though. If the owner of the house becomes a citizen and their children also become citizens, it's more than likely that a male offspring would become elligible for National Service.

So by that reckoning it's possible that If my 22 yr old son were to visit me for a holiday, he could be conscripted into the Turkish armed forces, theoretically of course.

Only if he took up citizenship.

I think it still won't be that easy to get the citizenship, you need to have lived here 8 years to be eligible for long term residency, IMHO,  to be able to have citizenship, you probably will have had to have owned and lived here for about 20 years.
