Hi All

My wife Jacquie and I are looking to relocate to a place with more sun and less stress that the UK. No big rush - but we'd like to move before things get completely silly back here. Turkey seems like a good bet - I've been there a few times before - mostly sailing along the coast. Plus once for a few days in Istanbul and also a week in Kas. So I've got some idea about the place, and I've always been impressed with what a varied and beautiful country it is, and how friendly the people are.

We'll be arriving in in Dalyan for a week on 23 April. This trip is just to get a feel for this part of Turkey - Dalaman to Fethiye - as somewhere to live, rather than just a holiday destination. The trip is not to buy - but just to get a feel for the whole coatal area, see what's available, and get advice on investment potential (short term) - retirement potential (long term). We're also planning to be back out for a week in the autumn.

Any free advice for a beginner would be welcome!

Free advice - don't buy or even think of buying from someone in a bar. Buy from a recommended agent only.

There's a search facility in the top right hand corner. You can search on any subject relating to this area or purchasing property + much more & you'll find that 99.9% of your questions have already been answered on here. So using the search facility is good advice for a beginner.

a warm welcome peter and jacquie,read up all you can and then get an agent who is recommended on here by other members who have had the experience of using them you can't go wrong,we did not find this forum until we had bought and we did get conned by one agent(who we found out later was not genuine) so pulled out,then found tracey who we found through word of mouth by one of her buyers who had bought 2 properties,and then we had no worries at all .good luck in your venture
