I'm cursing my cursor

When typing a sentence, my cursor jumps about from the end to somewhere else in the sentence:(.

Any suggestions as remedy.

If its a new problem unplug mouse USB and reconnect - if that fails reinstal mouse driver.
If its always done that, go into control panel - printer hardware - mouse - pointer options, and click "hide pointer while typing" option.
Also worth trying another mouse if you have one.
If that all fails sit farther away from screen and don't use specs, so you won't notice it so much.

Ah - but is there a mouse connected or is it a touch pad, if its a touch pad you may have it selected as a "tapping" function so when you hit the keys the vibration is being felt by the touch pad which confuses the cursor, same as mouse prob, go into control panel and de-select "tapping" option.

It normally happens to me when my hand accidentally brushes the touchpad whilst I am typing or if the touchpad sensitivity is set too high

Jim - I don't have a printer hardware option in Control panel.

Depends on laptop options, sometimes they say hardware sometimes printers and other hardware - lots of variations, but it will be there somewhere, and also look at bottom right hand corner at the task bar, it might show the touchpad icon there.
- also as redding said - the sensitivity might be set too high.

I hate touchpads.

If not, it's a option in control panel (click start>control panel I think)
