Thanks Scunner, I have downloaded this one (alongside Mcafee and spybot  & destroy) this new one has picked up on many more that the other 2 haven't (both of which are good) yet this one from microsoft is slowly going through and detecting the hidden ones.

it is running ok alongside mine, I did get a message saying there maybe a conflict, Run both scans and all ok.

Running more than one anti-virus + firewall etc. will slow down your PC and you'll potentially have software conflicts at some stage.

My advice - save yourself some licence money and remove all of the others and stick with the Microsoft Security Essentials.

I used to run Zone Alarm on a number of business PC's and I have to say that the move to using Microsoft Security Esentials has been a good experience for us.  Overall, it consumes a lot less of your PC resources than most of the others.

I've just been having a look at this and it doesn't appear to be a Firewall, just anti virus, or am I missing something. Does it have a Firewall feature?

Currently running Avast anti virua, which I'm happy with and Windows Firewall. I have used Zone Alarm Firewall for years but not got round to downloading it again since doing a factory default restore.

No firewall with it.  Just use windows firewall.  If you are connecting through a router then this will also be firewalled by it's own firmware.  The important thing is that the Real-Time protection does not put too much strain on the PC.  The other features are Virus and spyware catchers.  They do appear to work very well.

ZoneAlarm is good, but you need to pay to get the full features.  The free bit a just a basic firewall.
