Now got the problem sorted by taking laptop into repair shop. Seems (onboard) Dell touchpad driver was in conflict with (external) Logitech mouse driver. Both had to be disinstalled and reinstalled. Now set to automatic disabled touchpad when mouse plugged in and life is back to my normal keyboard incompetence.

Done here in Bristol. Took it to a chap who runs a business from his house. Word-of-mouth recommendation. £38 labour (= 0.9 hour).

UBT - you need a lot more help than this. Possibly beyond help.
