Uniblue - Speed Up My Pc
« on: June 11, 2011, 17:23:40 PM »
I am presently having a lot of speed issues with my laptop and tried the free download from Uniblue which is telling me that i have an awful lot of issues that need sorting out!! Before i buy the product, i was wondering if anybody has used this and what success they have had with it? Alternatively can anybody recommend anything else apart from chucking the laptop out of the window and buying a new one :D

I don't know it Gaz but paying for it sounds a little hasty. I often find that programs that find reams of problems do so to panic you into paying them cash to sort things out. Forget it for now - download the free version of Advanced Systemcare, it will sort out most of the problems you have.

Try 'Microsoft Security Essentials'
Its a free download and its a 'live' system.

We are all told that Gaz

Check your hard drives to ensure they aren't full - in windows explorer highlight C: then right click then select properties, a pie chart will show how much is used and free.

Again, I wouldn't pay for software just because it says I have 'issues' that they want cash to resolve. The program I suggested will fix 99.9% of them I would have thought so you aren't likely to get much more for your money.

I wouldn't buy any software to 'speed up' things.

Check your drives as Keith says. Delete any programs you never use. Check your virtual/physical (ram) memory to make sure it's enough for what you need. RAM is cheap and if you can add more it will speed things up. Go to the crucial website and run their check - it will tell you what you have and what you can add. If your ram is less than 1gb then I would upgrade it.
