iPhone sync problems
« on: December 12, 2011, 06:13:39 AM »
For some reason (may be to do with charging the Kindle via my lap top) my iPhone no longer syncronises.

I just get an option to restore from a long list of previous iPhone restore dates and the explanation is something about my computer and another device...

Does anyone know what can I do to solve this?

I have had a few iphone sync problems (not this one though) and deleting itunes and downloading/reinstalling it is advisable as something to try before restoring to an earlier date.

Is your itunes on the latest 5.0.1 software? If not then update it and try and sync again.

Also if you have updated your phone to 5.0.1 be aware that there are lots and lots of iphone users having major problems (especially 4s users but also 4 users as well)with such things as syncing, loss of sound on outgoing calls - and incoming calls for some.

Good luck  :)

aaaaah I did upgrade to 50.1 and after I checked the "restart later" option (because I was busy) an error message showed up...

So not sure now what to do...

Keith if I delete iTunes will I have to reset everything from scratch - like my email accounts because you know I had someone else do this for me the first time around...

So - is your phone on 5.0.1 as well? If not then update it to that and try and sync again.

No all your music library and apps etc should still be there, iTunes is a complicated beast, often just deleting it and reinstalling saves more major courses of action.

Ok I don't understand.

this is the message I get.

This computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or another iOS device.

I have run a diagnostic check and apparently there is nothing wrong.

I then have the options to either

1 set up as a new phone

2 restore from the back up of

a Toshiba iPhone
b Toshiba iphone with a previous date
c Toshiba iphone with a previous date
etc

My phone number shows
Dated last backed up shows

That is it

I don't really use iTunes and it isn't my default because I didn't know or understand what boxes to check.

If I delete iTunes how do I re install - will that option come up automatically or will I have to search for it somewhere?

To be honest I think I would probably just choose restore to the latest available backup offered and go from there (assuming it is fairly recent).
