Excess Baggage
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:18:46 AM »
My son is flying with Air Asia from Chiang Mai to Bankok today. It's the first leg of his journey back to the UK and he turned up at the check in desk with 50kg when his allowance is only 20kg!

Air Asia have charged him the mighty sum of £24 excess baggage.

Next - the Emirates leg  :-\

Stupid forum!

Just checked the Emirates rates - he's in for a shock. £547! for an extra 20kg and that's with 30% discount for booking it on line!

I guess he will be leaving his computer monitor and a few other heavy bits. He can buy them cheaper over here I guess.

Why do kids never check things first?

Because they think that's what parents are for.  ;)

He doesn't need to. You have done it for him as expected.  ;)

Yes but he's now flown his excess baggage down to Bangkok and has two weeks to sort out what to do with it. No chance he will pay £547 to bring an extra 20kg home with him so I guess some hotel maid is gonna get a nice tip  :)

Unless dad can find a flight which is cheaper than Emirates with 50kg of baggage  ;)

You could DHL it for a lot less than £547
