We have been told by our maintenance company the price of pool chemicals here has doubled in price does anyone know if this is correct or not please as surely this cant be right if inflation has not risen by 100%? Thanks for any info on this

There have been lots of price increases recently and many of them higher than inflation. Building materials such as timber and cement have jumped in price dramatically recently.
I've no idea about pool chemicals, so maybe someone who has a pool can answer you - but I wouldn't be surprised if its true.

Ok thanks very much John F

Pool chemicals are priced in US$, so a price increase seems inevitable. Our company buys what they will need for the season each January, so hopefully, we'll be OK until next summer

You know that is not what I meant as all I did was convert the lira price back to sterling to make the point that it is not all bad news.

It is if you live out there and live on lira savings not pounds.

It might not be "bad" news for someone with a sterling income, but it's certainly a crock of crap for someone who doesn't.
A hint of "I'm all right Jack" in that post.

Wow Libra thank u for posting so you paid more then double in August from June last year... i guess its back to getting quotes from maintenance co’s for next year...I have to agree the pound to tl conversion is totally irrelevant when it comes to making purchases like pool chemicals here...more so for all our Turkish neighbours on site as the majority are retired and living off pensions so they have to find the extra money from somewhere, I know absolutely nothing about Turkish pensions but im guessing they are prob like wages not much if any increase to them...
