You're right it's a scam - BIN IT pronto.  Never known Microsoft to send e-mail unless you've contacted them first.

Sorry for back to back.

I take it you are using Windows Outlook or whatever the current e-mail program MS are bundling is. In which case they might be wanting you to upgrade to a later version. BUT I wouldn't use any link sent in an e-mail.

When you open the program itself, if you click on help > about, it should tell you what version you are running, you can usually check for updates from there.

Better yet get yourself a new e-mail provider, Google, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.

I think there may have been a warning on here some time ago by John F advising not to open Archive (Windows Live) or Updating Windows Live.  Can't find the link but I have a note in one of my pads.

As LeeGlo said. Bin it.
I've had the same one myself. Can't believe that Microsoft let it through.
I've said before. No official email will ever ask you to give any info or click on any link. All most do is advise you to do things, such as change your password, not "click on this link and we will do it for you".
This also applies to emails from anyone else, no matter how close they are to you. Just don't do it.
