Black out
« on: July 07, 2013, 09:44:25 AM »
On Tuesday my laptop went completely dead in the office. Our IT man is away so the following day I asked around the office if anyone knew what to do. Some wag said "have you tried a different socket".

Oh very helpful that is I thought but nonetheless tried it. Guess what ! - it came on and was working fine until last night when exactly the same thing happened. The screen went opaque and then the laptop went off.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

PS I haven't tried another socket yet  :)

Sounds like it is overheating. Make sure the fan vents are not being blocked..

Overheating in Scotland......He'll be lucky.  ;)

Seriously that is a good point try putting the smallest nozzle on your vacuum cleaner, (Brenda will tell you what one of those is) and vacuum all of the vent holes and slots in the bottom, back and sides.
