We always changed money here, but he's closed and Infinity has taken it over now.

Not retired, alive and well running his new jewellery shop in Brighton. Good luck Gerbuz. By the way, Yakub at the new shop seems nice enough

Does anyone know if the new owner will cash Travellers Cheques or if Zumrut next door to Onur still do them?

This is ever so slightly sad - Gurbuz is one of the Calis good guys, it's disappointing to hear he won't be there anymore. But obviously great for him, I will call on him when I am next in Brighton.

Yip, he indeed was a lovely man. He wasn't making enough money here and feels he will do better back in the UK

I noticed his shop had a "to let" sign on the front in April but I did see him there a few days later and stopped for a chat.

He told me he'd been trying to let the shop but as he had no takers he was getting ready to open for the season.

I guess he finally got an offer he liked.

As Scunner says, it's sad to see him go, as we have changed 90% of our money with him over the years.

He'll be in for a shock though if he's expecting to sit outside his Brighton shop with no shirt on!

He was there in May in the shop while it was being renovated. He said that he was making it bigger/better but that he had opened a shop in Brighton. We talked a little and he said he was looking forward to the season,2 days later gone !I assumed he was taking a holiday and had someone looking after it for him
