Title: Donald Trump's State Visit to the UK
Post by: Highlander on November 30, 2017, 20:28:20 PM
Following Donald Trump's latest outrage, should the planned State Visit to the UK be cancelled or should it be allowed to go ahead so that people can protest in front of him and leave him in no doubt what their opinion of him is.

PS I am not sure that he would understand and/or take any notice of the protests however large.

So should we carry on inviting evil people out of tradition or change our bad habits?

It could get worse though.

I believe that the guest gets to invite some of the attendees for the main banquet. Given Trump's previous admiration for certain people we could have Nigel Farage, Piers Morgan and Katie Hopkins attending.

There's three more reasons why it shouldn't go head.

He needs another woman to even things up. How about Jayda Fransen, Deputy Leader of Britain First?

I may be wrong but I believe that an invitation to make a state visit to the UK is made to the office of President or Monarch, not to the person who occupies that office.

It would be seen in the US as a huge diplomatic snub to the office of President if the original invitation were to be withdrawn.  The consequences could be very harmful to future relationships between our two nations and possibly damage the efforts of those who work together in searching for peaceful co-existence in other areas of the world.

Whatever we think of Donald Trump as a person, let us at least respect the office of President...........who knows, it may bring opportunities to clear the air on a personal basis and to find better ways to promote world peace.

Let it go ahead and let people protest (without violence) if they so wish.

Yeah, let them go ahead and protest.

Just like they protested when Hamza Sodagar, an Islamic preacher who released a video detailing "five ways to kill homosexuals", came to Britain.

Oh, wait a minute. They didn't, did they ?

They tend to only protest when it doesn’t fit in with their ideology. I mean did you see the protests this week when some pizza place had to apologise for upsetting some trolls on twitter for offering Sun readers a free pizza?

It seems freedom of speech and choice only applies to certain people in the UK these days.

Obviously. Why on earth would anyone protest against something with which they actual agree?

So your saying all those protesting against Trump were OK with those on KKOB’ list?

No I'm not. Why should you think that? In fact I don't even know what "KKOB' " list is.
