Happy St George's Day
« on: April 23, 2018, 14:51:04 PM »
Knowing how intensely patriotic English people are on St G's Day (go on, how many of you, like Hilary, forgot?) I thought I would add to harmony between nations by helping you celebrate. I did this by going to my local and drinking St George's Ale (by Pitchfork Brewery, Weston-Super-Mare). I was encouraged in this by the special St G Day price of £1.50 a pint. Splendid. When did I have my last pint at this price? Not this century, I think.

Yes, we should all give thanks to St George. If it wasn't for him all of us in England would be speaking Dragon.  :)

And in furtherance of the need to display tolerance to others from within these isles I have just waved a Leek in the kitchen.  Boyo.    :)

I'm now more likely to remember that it's Scunner's birthday than St. George's Day - how desperately umpatriotic.

St George did get about a bit didnt he.

he's also a Patron Saint of Georgia (no surprise there), Malta, Portugal, Romania and 2 regions of Spain - and he may have been born in Cappadocia!
