Is it just my imagination or what ? Their seems to be a lot more flies about since the sacrifice of animals began.

There seems to be loads around at the moment up here in Uzumlu, considering how few there have been over the summer, maybe your theory is right?

There was a big increase here as well, my thoughts were that it was after the heavy rain followed by the increase in temperature a couple of weeks ago.

There always seems to be a big increase in the fly population in the Spring/Autumn  seasons...

Was same in Portugal last two weeks - especially those annoying little ones I like to call fruit flies ( they like your wine).

Time of year I think.

Ahh the fly, the bane of the Human and animal alike!

Strangely we have seen remarkably few in the UK this year, or is it
they are afraid to come to Salford?  :)

Many years ago whilst in South East Asia we had a "fly judgement" about people:-

You always knew the new bloke, frantically fanning the flies away from his beer
The seasoned soldier who picked them out before drinking
The real "old sweat" who drank the beer with the flies in it blowing them back breathing out through
his nose as he did so.

What about the bloke who drank it flies and all???   Time he went home!!

 :)

I beg to differ George; could barely eat my lunch without waving my free hand about to keep all the flies off my meal and out of my drink. Coupled with the cat that thought it could get on the table via my lap to eat from my plate although it helped to disperse the smoke from the woman smoking a cigarette blowing down wind in my direction.

Almost gave myself indigestion trying to wolf it down before God's little creatures beat me too it and prevented me leaping out of my chair to put the woman's fag out for her, in her drink!

Agree about the cigarettes, hate it when someone lights up on the next table just as we are going to eat.
