I'm a self-appointed expert on reasonably priced wines but also regularly buy pricier ones from Naked Wines. Naked Wines at least encourage and support small producers. Most of their good wines sell out quickly. Aldi must sell millions of bottles of Toro Loco, which makes you wonder about the way it is produced. Still, I have managed to drink a few cases of it anyway.
I regularly buy the Ocaso Malbec and Dominic Hentall Italian Primitivo from Naked Wines. Best to open both of those a good few hours before consumption.
Saying that, the current hot bottle at Chez Villain is Aldi's £3.99 Andara Chilean Merlot, as recommended by the M@!l on Sunday. A step up from the Toro Loco in terms of quality.
