Everyone hates taxi drivers in Istanbul, its just a fact. Unless of course you're a taxi driver, or a taxi drivers mum of course.
However, it appears that the wee fella loves them and doesn't want to see them "exploited".
On Friday he said “Something called Uber or Muber has arisen, that business is over now. There is no such thing anymore ... We already have a taxi system. Where has that arisen out of? It exists in Europe, I do not care."
What happens next? The governor of Istanbul decides that Uber is now illegal and the trafik polis are now stopping and fining any Uber they can identify.
Sometimes you really couldn't make it up...
