Any news from Ovacik
« on: February 08, 2014, 11:49:52 AM »
How has the winter been out there, we are out for the first time this year in 5 weeks and will be surveying the impact of the winter, fingers crossed that the place will be still standing   ;)

Anything big been happening in terms of the roads and infer-structure, just interested to hear any news at all about Ovacik as the postings have been few and far between.

I believe it has been a fairly wild winter and the blossom is on the trees.

I drove through Ovacik yesterday and it was fairly quiet. Some building going on in the main street.

It's been a very mild winter so far and very little rain. We have a shower today but it's fairly bright.

Spring is about a month early, almond blossom out already.  :)  :)

Could do with some rain as there could be problems in the summer when people start to fill their pools. :( :(

Over xmas bad storms caused roof tiles to come off various properties.

I think there was a bad storm back in December, and a lot of properties on Oaklands lost their roof tiles and BBQ chimney stacks! However I understand it has been mild since.  I have heard that the sunshine hotel has had a revamp and is looking good.  All of its derelict buildings have now been completed,or so I'm told.  Back out in 8 weeks so look forward to seeing I all myself...

Hi Kevin. Just got back from Ovacik and it's as beautiful as ever.

A lot of building going on at the moment which it seems is being done quickly before the mayoral elections and the point where Fethiye encompasses the Belediye of all the outlying areas. The thinking seems to be that they wont get building permission under the new council regime.

We found snow (a small but curious patch) on our driveway 2 weeks ago and of course it can be seen on the Ovacik side of Babadag.

Some of the more obvious and larger potholes have been filled with tarmac on the top Ovacik Cad.

Friar Tucks is still open.

We had 3 power cuts the first week we moved into our new house (just over 2 weeks ago) one of them lasting over 7 hours. We didn't have any at all in the last 10 days we were there.

There hasn't apparently been anything like the usual rainfall in the region and the locals were saying how much it was needed.

The water is still almost white.
