We are (unhappily)with the ING who since they moved to the new premises are a nightmare. It is impossible to look in and not see crowds of people.
We looked into the Seker Bank today and it looked like the old ING Bank inside. Also, looked into the H.S.B.C. and that looked good too. Any thoughts about these two Banks please? :-\
-
Been with HSBC since we have been living here, quite happy with them. All staff speak English, some better than others.
-
It must be an absolute nightmare having to stand there and look at the plebs.
Perhaps you should suggest to Coutts that they open a branch in Fethiye for you.
;)
-
No need for that KKOB... Jacqui we us Teb Bank near homprof... There is a man working there called Bugra who is the most helpful bank employee we have ever know .. His English is great as his sense of humour.. Apart from Mondays it is pretty quiet.
-
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there KKOB ?
Try Sekerbank Jacqui, Osga speaks perfect English and will do her best to look after you
-
Seker Bank every time. Always helpful, never busy and probably the best Exchange rate in town.

Nah. ;)

Thanks for the help folks, really helpful, need to get away from the ING. So many people complaining about the long waits in there now and people queue jumping.
-
Of your shortlist And criteria I would be able to recommend HSBC, particularly if you have a UK HSBC account too, and can stretch to a Premier Account. You might also want to consider TEB just up from ING, but I realise they are not on your shortlist
-
I was in there 2 weeks ago closing an account and I actually sat next to a man in his early 50's who had his head in his hands for most of the 40 mins we sat together - crazy!!!
-
We have not ventured in this time as the queues are so big. Last time after waiting for about 25 minutes, getting to a counter and then a Turkish guy walked straight in and stood next to us and started speaking over us
I really thought Phil was going to blow his top as he was so angry.
-
Siktir Git ! should have done the trick there.
-
When you live there Jacqui you get to know that that is normal behavior in the banks.. Also the tellers asking how there families etc. Are.... You need a lot of patience is all I can say... See u at the coffee morning?
-
Yes, we will be there, looking forward to it. ;D :-*
-
We have been with the HSBC since we moved to Cyprus and when we moved to Turkey we transferred to the Mahmular branch . Last year our sadly our WONDERFUL Manger moved to the Fethiye branch and was surly missed by us all . Always best to go and ask any of the banks what they can do for you and go from there . Whatever you decide Good Luck

Having just been sat in HSBC for an hour (seem to have now skipped my number, I'm going to have a beer and try again.
However HSBC now have an app that is useable in the UK and works a treat so hopefully no more visiting the bank.
-
We've banked with TEB for around 6 years, no problems, fairly easy website and reasonably competitive interest rates on savings account. Also Şeker, who always seem to be a little better for interest rates than some others.
-
Have decided Turkish in branch banking is a nightmare.
It's like queueing at the butchers department in a supermarket.
You get your ticket number and wait, wait some more, totally different numbers get called then the one above yours gets called and so on.
As I speak very little Turkish I can't ask where my number has disappeared to, just go back to the machine and try again.
I think I created chaos as I then got 2 different numbers, one for normal transactions and one for investing.
Both then came at the same time.
Priceless!
Back for round 2 today, yippee!
-
Yep Keng38 you're right. If you HAVE to visit the branch and you have a debit card, swipe it in the machine to get a quicker service, the girl at ING told us to put our account number in the machine for the same thing. Personally I do all my banking online and rarely visit the bank.
-
I've just broken my internet banking.
Tomorrow I'm taking sandwiches and a flask
-
#1 bank in Fethiye for quality service, interest rates and exchange rates is Şekerbank :)
-
Thanks for the recommendation nIchola. I recently changed from ING to TEB but am not impressed. Most of the time the guy we need isn't there and he doesn't answer his emails either.
Maybe time to change again!
-
We have recently moved to Seker having been recommended by Nichola, extremely happy we have done so. Could not ask for better service or more friendly staff.
-
A conversation that took place in Finansbank on a particularly frustrating morning ;)
Ironically ING do have probably the best internet banking now (after previously having the worst ever site) so it may be worth keeping an Orange account open with relatively favourable rates with the bonus of instant access and using it to transfer money to another bank with better in branch service when you want to withdraw it.
-
Does anyone know please the current interest rate on an account at Seker bank and do they do any similar accounts to the Ing orange one, also whereabouts in Fethiye is the Seker bank located please?
Thanks for any info.
-
Sekerbank is just a couple of doors up from the HSBC bank
-
I went into ING bank this morning only 2 people waiting, got my ticket,
about 3 more came in got their tickets and all went before me, so I went
to the counter and gave the girl my ticket and said people go before me,
and she served me. but thinking of moving on.
-
Sekur bank is across the road from HSBC,
-
Shows KKOB hasn't been in Turkey for a while. ;)
-
Haven't been to the bank for a while either. :)
-
Para yok.?? ???
-
Hayır , online bankacılık. :)
-
Cok guzel. :)
-
Çok teşekkür ederim.
Kendine iyi bak.
-
;D ;D

Cheers for replies I will show my ignorance and say I don't know where HSBC bank is, but I shall look for the Sekur bank when in Fethiye, my time is up with ING after like others have said my number continually being ignored people que jumping etc....one and a half hours later I finally got served and that was being there by 9.30 am :)

Şeker didn't have the equivalent of an Orange account last time I asked. As I suggested before the ING web site is now excellent and it is worth considering keeping a sum of money in ING to take advantage of the higher rate and instant access and just transferring whatever you need online to another account just before you want to withdraw it. Wire transfers are free and instantaneous.
If you walk from the current ING bank away from town in the same direction as the traffic on the one way system Şeker bank is a couple of hundred metres up on the other side of the road. It's in an old converted house and doesn't really look like a bank from the outside.
-
I changed from the Garanti to the HSBC. It's a thousand times better, probably more!
-
Thank you Nichola that is what we are going to do I think keep our ING account and open a Sekur account as well...we won't be withdrawing ( not yet anyway) it is going towards our retirement fund which may well be next year now, I can't take any pensions for a while yet so the interest will help to boost our income ( hopefully).
Is it easy to set up online for our ING account we don't have any bank cards with the account just the pass book...thank you :)
-
I can't remember to be honest, I did mine at the branch then you need to make a phone call to get your personal number. Although Turkish banks are a bit of a pain to set up the online banking its worth it and the security is better than the UK banks.
You need to have a mobile number they can text you on with a unique one time only security code every time you log on as part of the process. As far as I know that can be a UK of Turkish mobile number.
-
Ok thank you Nichola I shall see about this next time I'm over that is if I can get them to serve me! ;D
