Our water does tast good but I get tired with it. As such a packet of Tang in a 1.5 ltr bottle and keep it in the fridge.
We top up our big water bottle from the tap and have been for the last year. No difference in taste. (Water cooler bottle)
Also we make our ice(and we use a lot) from the tap water but not from ice cube trays but from a 1 ltr plastic basin. When frozen we bash it with a roller.
A point to consider. When the ice melts the calcium comes out of suspension as it also does if you keep the same glass and just keep topping it up.
Important: Smell the tap water before using it as they will add chlorine if they have a pipe break.

My neighbour in Hisaronu, a Turkish guy in his eighties gets his water from a spring.
He climbs his fruit trees to prune them (without a ladder),chases his chickens round
to get them in the shed and I sometimes meet him two or three miles up in the forest
on his walks. So his drinking water is obviously not harming him.

For the first 3 years living here we used tap water for everything, then 2 years ago i ended up at the Esnaf
with kidney stones, the same pain that you get in advanced labour so I am told. The Dr. Said it was because of the calcium in the water, after treatment to dissolve them I have always used bottled water.
Unless you enjoy advanced labour pains and begging for morphine stick to bottled water.

Whist we happily drank the tap water in Calis, we found the water in Uzumlu unpalatable. It appeared to come from the tap with a sort of white residue floating in it. Taste wise , it was fine.
The water available from the public fountains was clear though.
In the end, we used tap water for hot drinks only.
Is there a particular issue in Uzumlu ?

Sue I dont know if there's an issue with the water in Uzumlu.  I believe that the water comes from the direction of Oren, but would be interested to know if that is right.  What I mean is, I dont think its pumped up from Fethiye.  There is a chrome mine by the road near the Urantas turning on the road out of Uzumlu, heading for Fethiye.  I dont know how far reaching the chrome is in the greater Fethiye area, but found this on the net http://environment.about.com/od/healthenvironment/f/What-Are-The-Health-Risks-Associated-With-Chromium-6.htm  Seems chromium-6 can cause cancer.  But I dont know if the chrome found in the terrain here IS chromium-6.

Excellent research, Rindaloo.

Going to pass this thread on to my other half to read - he's a chemist.
