Stuart MacDonald (aka Rod Stewart)'s funeral
« on: September 30, 2018, 16:30:35 PM »
Like many in the UK I would have wanted to pay my final respects to Stuart MacDonald at his funeral tomorrow but clearly that is not possible. This then is a token of my esteem for a wonderful man.

How lovely... I too won’t be there but thinking of family and friends and all that will miss him dearly.

Our thoughts will be with his family and friends tomorrow , so very sad.
Watching a short video of him from our visit last year he will be sorely missed.
RIP Stewart

Is anyone else intending to go to the funeral today? We are trying to arrange a lift if anyone would be so kind.

It is indeed a sad day that we are laying to rest Stuart Mac Donald. Life is full of takers and givers and Stuart was one of the latter. The effort and energy he put into his concerts to raise money for charity was commendable. It was part of our holiday to visit Lees and see him perform. I never managed to have a chat with him which is my loss as I am sure he would have some interesting tales to tell. I think there will be a pile of discarded harps which will have been replaced by guitar's and drums outside the pearly gates. I am sure the residents are going to have some great nights with Stuart. I hope his wife can find some solace in the fact he was so well liked, my thoughts are with her.  R.I.P. Stuart.

There must have been between 50 - 60 people gathered at Cafe Pazar to pay their final respects to Stuart, the vast majority of which were wearing yellow in some way or other. The only shame was that they must have underestimated just how many people would gather so there wasn't enough transport to take everyone up to the cemetry. We decided to not go up to the cemetry but from what we witnessed I'm confident that he had a great send off, surrounded by his family and many, many friends.

There must have been IRO 100 up at the cemetry. The service was held in lovely sunshine & was very moving. The padre read the lyrics of Forever Young & Lee gave a poignant eulogy.

Stuart will have a wonderful view over the sea for eternity

Steve, there were several people with spare seats in their cars that were offering lifts; we took a couple with us, so I'm sure you could have got up there.
