Damaged Residency Blue Book
« on: June 23, 2012, 08:09:47 AM »
Not sure if anyone has had this problem? I have been carrying my residency blue book to act as I.D while driving the hire car I have at the moment.

Unfortunately the book found its way into the washing machine last night and is almost completely destroyed. The residence permit number is still visible along with the laminated picture but not much else.

Can anyone advise on the process for getting a replacement please?

Think the best solution would be to take back to the passport police for help Rimms.

Oh dear - you will have to get a new book and pay for the privilege!

You need to go to the Gümrük (customs)- not sure what else you will need but you may need your passport at the very least. There is a topic somewhere on the forum about someone who I think lost theirs and what happened.

I'd say you need to go to the Pasaport Polis NOT Gümrük.

You're probably going to have to provide 4 passport sized photos, a photo-copy of the personal detail page of your passport together with the original passport and of course the mashed-up Residence Permit.

Isn't Gümrük where the passport police are based KKOB - I think that is what I meant   :)

Nope. The Gümrük Müdürlüğü is Turkish Customs and their office is just behind the Pasaport Polis offices. (Unless they've combined their offices very recently).

Might be an idea to empty all your pockets in future George, much cheaper in the long run!

On this occasion I can plead innocence, we have an over anxious person here who thinks that anything you wear for more than a nano second needs to be washed !
