I hope that I am wrong and that they don't start cancelling RP's, friends of ours took out a 5 year one last year to circumvent the new visa rules, as did many others. But that is how I understood the "new" new rules would work. i.e. you are no longer "resident" if you spend more than 6 months out of the country

Leeglo you could well be right- we are all just guessing.

I just felt that if they were to stand over the existing RPs  they would also  be subject  to the new rules, but who knows!!!

However, to throw a rathey large spanner in the works (espesially as I left on Sunday)

If the Turkish Government goes ahead and signs the new EU visa papers then Turks will not need Visa's for any of the EU countries.

This should mean that nor will we.

I think he means just one more step in the process to conform with other EU arrangements - this is not uncommon when countries are going through various stages prior to full membership - which will likely never happen - but some uniformity may still be achieved!
