Title: Banks in Turkey no longer to ask for ID information
Post by: KKOB on June 30, 2020, 12:50:20 PM
New regulation concerning online and digital banking services will ban bank representatives from asking about users’ ID information to confirm their identities. Representatives will instead be asking about digital ID informations and PIN numbers.

I take it that, as a tourist, you still can’t change Sterling at any Turkish bank?

Often changed £s in Yapi Kredi, Garanti and ING without a problem.

Some banks will only change if you have an account with them or in some cases give a poorer exchange rate.

Last year(Sept) in Kusadasi, no banks would change foreign currency. I quite often used Garanti to do this, but was told it was now a government ruling, maybe I’m wrong and the ruling has now changed. If anyone can confirm whether you can or can’t change Sterling at a bank, I’d appreciate it.
