Well said OPO
Where are we now - somewhere that we make tax cuts while people queue up for free bags of tins, a society where the very poorest pay the very highest prices for everyday items and appliances. Where is the compassion?
I saw a programme on TV recently, it was generally about doleys and scroungers out for all they can extract from the state. In the programme, a child (possibly 8, I'm not the best at knowing these things) had a camera thrust her way when they were discussing holidays. She said she'd never been on holiday - ever.
It made me wonder - if some banker or company CEO was watching, perhaps someone with 20 million in the bank, and foaming a the mouth in pursuit of another 20 million - I wonder what they would make of a child who'd never once experienced the excitement of a couple of hundred quid holiday experience.
And eventually I decided - they wouldn't give a f*ck.
Vivre la compassion - it's what sets us apart from the rich. And we can afford it too.
