We have a marble staircase in our apartment.  This can get very slippy at times, and we have had a couple of near misses.  Can anyone recommend anything to help before we kill ourselves on them.

You can use strips , like in the hotels . They used to sell them in Gima but not sure now .

Thanks Cenk, Something like that would be good I think.  The marble looks very nice but it can be lethal.

ooohhhhh!   I notice I've gone from Helpful member to Big contributor !   How exciting.  But how did you know Scunner - have you been peeking again ?!  (Sorry, that polka dot bikini doesn't hide much does, it ? - I'll have to darn the knees of my other swimsuit and become more respectable. :)

:)Farry, something like the stuff that they put by the pools, just make sure you stick the corners down, and when cleaning use a damp, not wet cloth or mop. ;)

Footwear with non slip soles could be the answer and better than spoiling the appearance of the marble and making it difficult to clean. Seems a simpler solution but I admit to very limited experience with marble floors or stairs.

If you don't have a stair rail on both sides then get a wrought iron one fitted on the side you don't have one. I doesn't cost much and makes the turn more secure when ascending/descending.

We fitted a stair rail to our stairs, made it much safer we got the people who fitted the security grills to do it for us, also made us towel rails and log basket.

We do have railings, but it is a circular staircase, and the rounded bits don't have a rail on. Also the stairs are narrower on the curved bit. We have tried to be careful but it is always a worry especially with an 87 year old and children using it. Thanks for the ideas.
