Mine and Barrie’s would be The Greenfields of France.. found by accident after a few drinks on our balcony in Fethiye.

Seasons in the Sun, Terry Jacks. I've just googled it and worked out I was 8 years old when this was released. I remember feeling so upset when I heard it - and it still can bring a tear to my eye.

Mercury, Green Fields of France was written by a Scots musician called Eric Bogle. He emigratedfrom Peebles in the Borders to Adelaide many years ago on the £10 packages. I have seen him live on many occasions including in Oz, and I have most of his cds collected over many years. His songs are covered by many artists too, but Green Fields of France and Waltzing Matilda are 2 of my favourites of his also. Good thread. x

Sailing Rod Stewart played at my lovely mum’s funeral though thanks to our lovely Calis Rod he helped take that sadness away for me hearing him singing it with the lovely ambiance of the prom and waving the sparklers, also Honey by Bobby Goldsbora (spelling ) gets me every time I hear that tho it’s not often these days...

Honey, and Shep by Elvis. I know, stupid but I love them both. The other one is No Charge. I played this to my son once, after he was being particularly demanding, he broke down in tears, mind you he was only 7 at the time. :)
