Title: Bills
Post by: güngör on February 18, 2007, 14:15:15 PM
Has anyone had large electric bills lately. Me and my friend both live at different ends of Fethiye and have both had rather large electric bills even tho we are hardly in. My friend has air conditioning and i have a soba so different types of heating. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem

But we had a rather large water bill, nearly double what we normally get.

I have solar power for water but found out that my electric bill was high due to the fact that the top tank heater has no thermostat. Our water was continuously being heated for no purpose at our expense and it only came to our notice when we witnessed it boiling off the top of our roof.

I'm not the brightest spark you know!!!

Bloody hell - you lot would have a fit if you saw the rise in prices over here if you thought those bills were high. I'm sure my bills have trebled in last few years.

I thought that was normal for Turkey.
We live in a 5 Bedroomed Duplex, (we don`t use 4 of them) we have a washing machine, dishwasher, electric toaster & kettle, microwave/grill, fridge-freezer, freezer, electric shower, electric backup for the solar hot water, etc.
Why is it so low ? I have no idea, maybe it`s cheaper here in Koycegiz. Even when Scunner & family are here. :D
We did get a refund on our water bill last year as they made more money than they expected.

Maybe it is that wire you twisted illegally round the main supply

Hey Highlander that oil bill is not too bad. Our bill this year in Uzumlu was 1100 YTL and its been quite a bit milder than last year.

about 4 months. It also includes heating the water if there was not enough sun for the solar panels.

unfortunately, heating fuel is not subsidised so you pay the same amount for your central heating diesel as you do for your cars fuel. The upside is that we probably wont be using it now until next winter, fingers crossed.

Our electric bills are paid by standing order but they are still reasonable. At least the power cuts are keeping the bills down! lol

Although our water bills are very low, I do believe that they can be paid by standing order but only at one bank.

We have a 3 bed apartment in Fethiye. Our first period electricity bill was for only £20 (we had only been there for a few weeks) but got hit in the Summer for a £100 bill after being out there for 7 weeks. Shows what the impact of airconditioning can be.
