I thought it was but now I am doubtful.........Having just spent a great month in Calis we arrived early at Dalaman third in the queue at Bag drop straight through passport control only to find our flight to the UK was delayed so sat in the balcony watching security check every one from babies to wheelchair bound. When all had boarded their plane the security team picked up all their equipment and moved on. So far so good but then at same gate next flight arrives and people start boarding their plane with NO SECURITY CHECKS AT ALL.
That really makes a mockery of the system as that is the flight where there could be a problem!

A friend who was travelling back to Newcastle two weeks ago said that her backpack (her only luggage) was completely emptied and searched. She was patted down and told to moth her pockets. She said they were very thorough and weighed her backpack too.

Was the second flight to the UK as it's U.K. flights that have the extra checks

Yes the second flight was to the UK. On another gate later we got the treatment my bag contained two cameras but only one was looked at. A large single lens reflex in a case wa not looked : :) at

Tribal elder, are cameras allowed in the hand luggage? I was going to leave my dslr or bridge at home but it would be excellent if they can be carried on as we are trying a different part of Turkey and wanted to do a lot of photography there. :)

We came back on Monday and had a small Panasonic lumix camera and a Panasonic video camera in hand baggage and at the boarding gate we just had to switch them on, so make sure fully charged.
