BT warning & Premium number stopping.
« on: October 15, 2006, 18:19:07 PM »
Hi All
Just received a worrying recorded message from BT that my number had been used to dial premium rate numbers. Checked my internet access was dialing out via the correct number - it was.

Phoned the 0800 number left & the gent on the other end of the line said that the rogue diallers are now targeting telephone lines NOT via the computer. Didn't know they could do such a thing. Mine had just been used for 2 seconds?? & BT picked it up. Have set up my phone now to not dial out any premium rates whatsoever. Read somewhere they can be £1.50 a second - not per minute.

If the gent I spoke to is correct I'd advise everyone to call BT & stop any premium rate calls out.

Linda
