Tax refund scam
« on: December 13, 2006, 20:30:47 PM »
I have had lots of calls at work today from people who have received an email from HM Revenue and Customs saying they have overpaid tax and to click on a link to claim it back. The link takes them to a form to complete which asks for credit card details, nino, date of birth, address etc. It looks like a genuine site but I am afraid it is yet another scam. This has been reported to the fraud dept and the police. Please be careful, the revenue would NEVER ask for credit card details. Linda
