Again I'm typing under Turkish light, horrid, don't they make decent lightbulbs out here?
Had a visitor out for the last 10 days & got another one for the next week or so hence being very much a tourist at the moment.
The apartment is getting there now after a few teething troubles & I'm learning where to shop for different things, Efes is cheapest in Azda along my usual evening walk, got to get the priorities right! Having fun in the markets getting my fruit & veg, certainly strange wanting 2 cucumbers & ending up with 10 to make up 1/2kg lol. Worst shock was 20tl for 1/2kg of cashew nuts, that was more than my weeks shopping of fruit & veg lol.
Learnt that most things electronic are expensive & also that if it can be repaired someone - somewhere will be able to fix it!
Had some lovely meals, in particular at Mozaic Bahce & Kings Garden, testing of the lunchtime 1/2 bread Chicken Doner is ongoing & has kind of settled as the staple snack.
Honesty seems to be the way things go. Lost my housekeys on the beach, rung up the bar where I was sitting (Guvens) & they rung back 10 minutes later to say they had looked on the beach & found them & they were behind the bar when I was next passing, nice touch (thank you Carol).
In the last 2 days there has been severe rain & thunderstorms, lessons of power cuts & flooding I learnt in Jamaica, Turkey is no different! Candles out ready, just in case, makes for a nice romantic evening too!
There you go Meldrew, a snapshot of my time to date, if you have any specific questions ask away, probably wont be able to answer them yet but I'm bound to find someone who can!
Oh yes, 1 other thing. Look BOTH ways when crossing the road, dual carriageway or not. The local school bus uses my section the wrong way as a short cut, nearly had me once, now I double check & take nothing for granted.
Edit: Fastlady beat me to some of my update, she's spot on with her selection of fun things I've been up to, the Animal Aid auction night was very much fun & now I have 4 meal vouchers to use up lol.
