Instead of raiding our Overseas Aid fund why is the Government not applying to the EU Solidarity Fund for disaster aid? The Labour Government did it in 2007 for the Gloucester floods. The German Government did it for their floods last year. That is what it is there for. You have to apply within 10 weeks of the first flood damage to qualify. That gives the Coalition two weeks to put in the claim. Will they do it? Or will they be too terrified of the rabid right, anti-EU, Tory members who would prefer people to suffer than to admit any benefit of the EU?

Really good point Colwyn!  I'm going to put that on Facebook too.  Hope it rolls.

Here is the story in the Independent. Britain got £127m in 2007. Don't remember that in the headlines.

It was reported earlier today on the news, Sky I think, that the Government were applying
to the EU for funds. We'll see.!    It may be the wrong type of flood.!
