« on: April 20, 2015, 22:35:50 PM »
Is this the beginning of a trend?

We would like to announce you that there is a concept change in hotel and new concept is "Halal All Inclusive" as starting from 29th May, 2015. New concept is providing full holiday services in accordance with Islamic beliefs and practices. Hotel will only serve halal foods and non-alcoholic drinks. It is also not allowed to bring alcoholic drinks from outside. There will be also separate pools for men and women. There will be more information soon in our web page.

Only a beginning locally - it started about three or so years ago in other areas.

I had the misfortune a few years back (2006) to stay in a dry hotel in Agadir, Morocco.  It was  totally miserable sitting in a reproduction Great British Pub watching the World Cup and having to make do with a pint of pop.

Of all places to have a dry Hotel, HIsaronu.   I cannot see it doing much business in such a British Resort and I doubt the Muslim visitors would like the place, being where it is.
Lets wait and see what happens.

I actually think the opposite Jacqui - those who's religious beliefs would make a Halal All Inclusive attractive will not be beach goers or partying types. I can imagine everything they want will be within the AI walls and as such it can be anywhere - they won't be too bothered by what the local resort might have on offer.

The other point may be that the soaring alcohol prices in Turkey might be making smaller scale AI difficult to make a profit out of. A no alcohol AI could be far more viable.

I hope the people who go there every year from the U.K. are told about the changes, as they will be in for a shock.

Apparently British who have booked are being offered the chance to move to a different hotel.

Shame but the Green Anatolia I knew was not an AI hotel, and indeed was an excellent hotel, and I think Scunners right it would be well suited, by location and design, to being a hotel enjoyed by muslims.  And not just those from Turkey.

I could put up with staying in a hotel where there is no booze, and have done so in other parts of Turkey, but I do not think I would enjoy the company of the other muslim guests - nor I suspect they of mine.  Besides which the Present Mrs Tickets would reject outright the idea of swimming in an outsized baby-grow with hood  ;)
