Use them all the time.  Cheaper than the banks.

Always use them, you need to set up an account that will need passport details, but very straight forward. The transaction only takes 1 or 2 days to arrive and charges are far far less than doing through a bank and paying there astronomic charges. Highly recommend Transferwise.

Thanks for your replies. My hubby registered, he gave address but no passport details. Charged a lot less than his bank were going to charge. Hopefully it transfers today.   :)

i used them for 4 years as I was happy with their 1% fee, however I noticed earlier this year that they were now charging over 2%. I queried it as I couldn't find any communication from them warning me of the change, and they confirmed that indeed they now charge 2%

That's odd.  GBP to TRY is 0.09% plus £2.00 according their web site.  To send £1,000 to a Lira account is £10.90 (10p discount  :)  ).

We pay 0.35% for Sterling to Euro, although it does vary a little bit dependent on the amount you're transferring. They also have two or three transfer methods, which vary in price depending on how quick you want the transfer to be completed.

I would recommend Monzo, Starling Bank or Revolut as good alternatives too.

With Revolut, you can transfer at interbank rate which is cheaper even than Transfer Wise.
