I am pretty certain that it is Mezgit.  As you say, chunky and flaky texture similar to cod and haddock, but not as strong as cod. You can buy frozen cod here- believe it or not, although not tried this as yet.  I think cod is overrated anyway.

I looked this up and Mezgit translates to Whiting.   Not a fish we see a lot of in my part of the world.  I know my Grandmother (in Liverpool) used to buy this fish in the market.

I prefer Cod, the nice white texture, Mezgit  as a brown texture, you can buy both frozen,
if you prefer to cook your own, but find most restuarants serve Mezgit as its cheaper to buy,
But everyone to their own tastes.

Well, there you go! When I was a sprog living on the Wirral, my mum used to get whiting from the fishmongers for fish & chips on a Friday and really loved it.  I have been eating and enjoying Mezgit in Turkey without knowing it was whiting until now.

Anyway, as I will be coming at this from a different angle, apologies in advance.  But as no one is taking the bait, (and it’s raining outside) I believe nothing beats a good pun in order to lighten the mood.  So, I’m not going to skate around this and I won’t carp on.  Admit it; you're all having a whale of a time with this post! So come on everybody, there's no need to feel koi as no one will molly-codle you buoys and gils.

It's no fluke that that Festta’s serve such good fish.  If you don’t believe me maybe you should mullet over with a nice cup of char before you scampi off in a melan-coley mood.

Don’t forget, you can buy lots of different types of fish from Kipper. Fintastic!

Their other food is good too... They used to own The Winehouse also in Uzumlu. They have two meals for the price of one days as well. Their lasagne was lovely.
